Coaches and consultants often repeat the same explanation, worksheet, onboarding sequence, or diagnostic framework in every engagement. Thinkific can turn that repeatable knowledge into a product, while preserving live time for the work that genuinely needs judgment and interaction.
The quick verdict
Thinkific is a strong fit when your method can be divided into reusable learning content plus live support. It is less useful when every engagement is entirely bespoke, your clients will not use self-paced material, or your business depends on complex professional-services project management.
The goal is not to replace every one-to-one session. It is to stop spending expensive live time delivering material that could be learned before the call.
Step 1: extract the repeatable method
Review recent client calls and mark questions answered more than three times. Group them into a sequence: diagnosis, foundation, implementation, review, and next action. Those groups can become course chapters, templates, quizzes, or assignments.
Keep judgment-heavy work outside the self-paced layer. A course can explain a pricing framework; a consulting session can apply it to a client’s market. A course can demonstrate a coaching exercise; a live session can interpret the result and hold the client accountable.
Step 2: design a product ladder
This ladder lets clients buy the amount of access they need. It also prevents a low-priced course from promising unlimited personal consulting.
Step 3: understand the live-event workflow
Thinkific’s Coaching & Webinars products can create a landing page, collect leads or payment, and direct a buyer to a meeting or booking link. Basic currently allows five coaching sessions or future webinar products, while Start and higher plans list unlimited products of this type.
The actual call is not hosted inside Thinkific. You need Zoom, Google Meet, or another meeting service. Thinkific also notes limitations such as no built-in attendee cap and no automatic notification when a coaching session is booked. Test scheduling, reminders, rescheduling, and repeat purchases before selling.

Check Thinkific status ->Which plan fits a coach?
Basic can support an initial self-paced course, one community, and a limited number of coaching or webinar products. Start is more natural for a mature coaching offer because it adds live cohorts, bookable calendars, assignments, certificates, product bundles, payment plans, memberships, and subscriptions.
Grow becomes relevant when a coaching company sells seats to corporate clients, needs invoicing or group orders, operates several communities, removes Thinkific branding, or connects systems through API access and webhooks.
Build a small pilot before a full academy
- Create one module covering a repeated client problem.
- Add one worksheet the client completes before a call.
- Run one live session using your actual meeting and booking tools.
- Ask two pilot clients what saved time and what still needed live explanation.
- Revise the method before recording the full program.
A useful course is not a library of everything you know. It is a guided path that helps a specific client reach a defined result with less repeated explanation.
What Thinkific will not do for you
Thinkific can package, deliver, sell, and track expert content. It cannot prove market demand, write a differentiated method, create client trust, or guarantee completion. Community and memberships also require ongoing programming, moderation, and new value.
Use the platform to scale the repeatable layer. Protect human time for feedback, diagnosis, relationships, and decisions where your expertise is most valuable.
Measure whether productization is working
Track more than course sales. Measure how much preparation time the course removes from each engagement, which lessons clients complete before calls, where questions repeat, and whether live sessions move faster into application. Low completion may mean the course is too broad or the live accountability arrives too late.
Also separate lead products from paid outcomes. A free webinar can demonstrate your method, while a paid course or cohort should solve a defined problem. If every buyer still needs the same explanation in a private call, improve that lesson before recording more content.
